I am thinking Guttenprint or PCL6 is fastest?Avoid Gutenprint if & wherever possible, that's a stop-gap measure for companies that fail to step up and provide a driver, or for really ancient hardware that isn't going to ever provide a driver for current Mac OS because the maker is long gone, etc.

What drivers are you using for Mac? There are so many options. I've never tested foomatic in 10.10 let alone 10.11, and again advise against it for the reasons given in my prior post. Limited functionality was possible using the Ricoh PCL driver.

I don't mean to be harsh, but a gross error in the past is simply - matter of fact - not any viable solid ground to build on. If it was missed then someone was factually inadequate in their testing and preparation of printing workflow for those printers with your Mac clients. So yes, if you need Postscript printing to work with those units, you need their Postscript feature installed. The last time I supported one, the ridiculous thing grossly mis-handled ANY postscript data coming from a Mac over anything but AppleTalk (Hello ? The 90's - came and went a long time ago). Don't put the cart before the horse and go with a reputable vendor that provides Mac software, even the Canon PCL drivers work (no foomatic).
